Hello!

I’m Lisa M. Carey a non-attorney Education Advocate with 15+ years of experience.

As a mother of three incredible children with disabilities, I have navigated the challenging and intricate paths of the education system firsthand. The complexities of securing the right services for my children introduced me to the world of educational advocacy, where I found support and my calling. An amazing advocate once stood by my side, guiding me through my children’s Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), igniting a passion within me to advocate for others in similar situations. This personal experience became the cornerstone of my professional journey, deeply rooting my approach in empathy, understanding, and real-life insights.

Professional Experience

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of families, helping them to navigate the often daunting education system and advocate for their children’s rights and needs. My experiences as both a parent and a professional have equipped me with a unique perspective and an unwavering dedication to the families I serve.

Education and Credentials

My commitment to educational advocacy is matched by my dedication to continuous learning and professional development. I have achieved Board Certification for Advocacy in Special Education (BCASE) through the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET). Additionally, I have completed the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates’ (COPAA’s) SEAT program, engaged in Wrightslaw workshops, participated in Parent Advocacy and Mentoring through the Special Needs Network and countless other workshops, conferences and continuing education opportunities. Further, I have enriched my knowledge and skills by becoming certified as an Independent Facilitator for the Self-Determination Program. Each of these experiences has not only expanded my expertise but also reinforced my commitment to being an informed and effective advocate.

Philosophy and Approach

My philosophy is simple: every child deserves access to the best education possible, tailored to their unique abilities and needs. I approach each case with a blend of personal empathy and professional expertise, ensuring that families feel supported, heard, and empowered. I believe in collaborative problem-solving, transparent communication, and steadfast advocacy, always keeping the child’s best interests at the forefront.
